No other history book can tell you anything about JAMES DAVIES,
But I can!
Carl Bradley (Brad) Wright, was 6 years old when I arrived in Baugo Township and lived in Jimtown just after the Palm Sunday tornado in 1965. I attended Baugo Schools and The Jamestown United Methodist Church as my parents were members of the Church, the Scouting program and The Baugo Fire Department. Here, you grow up with the township being your family.
I have spent years visiting with local farmers, residents, former history authors, and have gathered a lot of information on the township called Baugo in Elkhart Indiana. This area was named BauBaugo by the Potawatomi Indians, meaning devil river for treacherous dangerous waters.
What I started out as a young boy, I was inspired by hearing that the Indians lived near by and I personally found arrow heads along the banks of the Baugo Creek, It was not until my adult age, I started the interviews and the research took off. Not realizing that the information I was gathering would someday lead to a filing cabinet full of facts, photos, and maps. In 1936 my first historical figure, John Harold Bollenbacher wrote a book. In the early 1980's I met with him on many evenings and weekends to inhale his knowledge and his passion for the community.
The many history books of this county that were written by, Bollenbacher, Deahl, Chapman and Weaver, helped contribute to my findings. In the passing of John Harold Bollenbacher, his collection was given to me from his daughter Helen Bollenbacher.
You will find, history, genealogy, maps, plat maps, contracts, and photographs never seen before. There is not one book ever written with the facts and history of Baugo Township which are now in the new 5th edition.
5TH EDITION HAS IT ALL IN IT.
There is a silent video of Jamestown recorded in 1936 from the rooftop of the former old school that you will find on this site. Please order a book today and share with family and friends. People that have once lived in this area, or even known of someone that did, inspired me to write, and because of these findings, I have mailed books all over the United States and even into Europe.
The Jimtown Historical Museum INC.was created by local historian enthusiasts and friends that had interest in preserving the history. I was one of the founding members as I of course had an interest. As time progressed, I left the organization, however I endorsed what they were doing. Items that were displayed were donated or given to the group with out any records ever being kept. In the past few years, this home has been used as a private residence with no contact information, hours of operation, nor has it even been open. Any excuse to not be open but accept the free money from the Elkhart Community Foundation of Elkhart is a slap in the communities face. I am contacted quite often on questions about the value and purpose and I have no answers. I have reached out to trustees, commissioners, the former board members that were pretty much forced to quit,as their keys to the building have been changed. I was told to contact the IRS. Enough said about this as this
NOT FOR PROFIT, INC group is misleading
