Author Carl Bradley (Brad) Wright, has spent his childhood from just after the Palm Sunday tornado in 1965 to adulthood, growing up in this area called Jimtown. Attending the local school and church as his parents were members of the church as well as the local fire department. You grow up with the township being your family.
Brad has spent years visiting with local farmers, residents, former history authors, and has gathered a lot of information on the township called Baugo in Elkhart Indiana. This area was named BauBaugo by the Potawatomi Indians, meaning that the creek was so winding and dangerous. Baubaugo stood for treacherous dangerous waters.
What started out as a youth being inspired hearing that the Indians living near by and personally finding arrow heads along the banks of the Baugo Creek, It was not until adult age, did the interviews begin and the research took off. Not realizing that the information I was gathering would someday lead to a filing cabinet full of facts, photos, and maps. In 1936 my first historical figure, John Harold Bollenbacher wrote a book. I met with him on many evenings and weekends to inhale his knowledge and his passion for the community.
The many history books of this county that were written by, Deahl, Chapman and Weaver, helped contribute to my findings. In the passing of John Harold Bollenbache, his collection was given to me from his daughter Helen Bollenbacher.
